The stupid state England is in

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/812344-bus-delayed-for-driver-s-prayers

This marvelous piece of dross, gives an insight into the minds of people in England, or London to be more precise.

Road works, overcrowding, ‘planned engineering upgrades’ – commuters face enough delays getting across town.

Which was probably edited so that the line "without selfish religious, non English people faffing about with their weirdnesses." was no longer there. That's not my opinion, but what I assume the "journalist" behind this piece was thinking.

Gayle Griffiths was on her way to collect her daughter from school in Gospel Oak, north London.
‘The driver stopped the bus very suddenly, got out of his cab and walked toward the doors,’ said the 33-year-old from Camden.
‘But then he took off his shoes and began praying. I was gobsmacked and quite bewildered.
‘I didn’t say anything – but I thought that this might be some sort of terrorist attack because I had heard that suicide bombers prayed before attacks.’

And this poor mother had to endure her misinformed shock of thinking she would never see her daughter again as she reads tabloids and doesn't think for herself (I wildly accuse).

The problem is that this is the worst quote from a person ever (well, sort of), surely there were other less inflammatory comments made, but then old Doris Humplecrop crooning on about "The nice young muslim man stopped the bus and started speakin' all funny. And I sez to Mable, I sez, 'Ooohh, this is fun, should we join in?'" probably wouldn't have been as interesting.

I would like to think that had I been on that bus I would have seen it for what it was, a devout religious man trying to honour his god. Now, I suspect that wouldn't have been my thought, it may have been similar to Gayle Griffiths' (wow say that with a lisp) and thus I would've had to shoot myself. I wonder where she heard that suicide bombers prayer before attacks. Probably from the same place she's being interviewed for, or some equally idiotic newspaper. Luck there weren't any scotsmen/skinheads (not that I equate the two) on the bus, had there been we probably wouldn't have heard about it as it would have been a story about an assault on a muslim man and no one wants to hear about that.

The angle on this article is more about the disruption to commuters, the fear of terrorists (or non-whites as the Metro likes to call them) and the fact that the driver was a bit weird. However I think that what is more important is the fact that we seem to be convinced anyone who is a muslim (or looks like one) is a terrorist, if ever terrorism came from white, British people I think the media would fold in on itself and implode, they'd not know how to deal with it and neither would we, who would we trust and who would we suspect? It seems we simply don't know anything about the other cultures that are around us and their customs. We're allowing ourselves to be scared into a state of idiocy by the media, the government and by terrorism. The war on terror is lost, we're terrorised.

Incidentally, I've notice that the notation (sic) has become synonymous with (YOU IDIOT) in the metro. It regularly crops up when quoting something someones' written and they're trying to discredit them. It's all rather petty.
